1972: The
State transfers to ENUSA the exploitation of the uranium
deposits located in the municipal district of Saelices
el Chico-Ciudad Rodrigo (Salamanca).
1975: The
so-called Elefante Plant, located in the Saelices el
Chico Mining Center (Ciudad Rodrigo), is put into operation
for production of uranium concentrates by static lixiviation.
1981:
The Geography and Prospecting division of
the Junta de Energía Nuclear transfers the mining
operations of La Haba and the experimental plant Lobo-G,
in operation since 1990, as well as the prospecting
division and the P.N.E.I.U.
1986: The decision is made to launch
the viability study of a new treatment plant in Saelices
el Chico.
1991-1993: Construction
of the Quercus plant for uranium concentrate production.
2009: The
Spanish Council of Ministers has approved a Co-operation
Agreement between Enusa Industrias Avanzadas S.A. and
Berkeley Resources Ltd for investigation of Enusa's
mining domains, located in Salamanca.

1974:
Signature of technology transfer agreements with Westinghouse
Electric Corporation and General Electric.
1975-1980:
Training of personnel in the United States in the technologists'
facilities.
1981: First
nuclear design autonomously developed by Enusa for the
José Cabrera power plant.
1981-1985:
The fuel assembly factory is built in Juzbado (Salamanca).
1985: First
supply of fuel from the Juzbado factory to the Ascó
power plant.
1988: Supply of fuel assemblies to
the Swiss Leibstadt nuclear power plant.
1989: Enusa signs an agreement with
General Electric Corporation to jointly operate in the
European BWR (boiling water reactor) nuclear fuel market,
which in 1996 would lead to the incorporation of GENUSA.
First fuel design integrally developed by Enusa for
the José Cabrera power plant.
1991: Enusa,
Westinghouse Electric Corporation and British Nuclear
Fuel form the European Fuel Group, in order to jointly
operate in the European PWR (pressurized water reactor)
nuclear fuel market.
1995: Startup of the Gadolinium pellet
production line.
1995: Constitution of the ENUSA-ENWESA
Asociación de Interés Económico
(AIE) [Economic Interest Alliance] to provide fuel services
together with ENWESA and Westinghouse Technical Services.
1997: The Six Sigma methodology is
implemented as a continuous improvement tool.
2001: First
VVER fuel manufactured by Enusa. The EFG incorporation
agreement is revised to adapt it to the acquisition
of the company ABB-CE by Westinghouse.
2003: Important changes in the manufacturing
lines, major enhancement of plant automation and productivity.
2004:
Integral replacement of the factory production control
and traceability system.
2006:
Constitution of a Joint Venture together with Westinghouse
and TECNATOM to provide refueling services to the Ascó
I & II and Vandellós II power plants.
2007:
Manufacturing of VVER-440 fuel assemblies ceases.
The Spanish Nuclear Group for China partnership is created
together with ENSA and TECNATOM for development of the
Chinese market.
2008:
Enusa signs an uranium-to-UF6 conversion supply agreement
with British corporation Springfields Fuel Ltd.
Enusa forms with ENSA, TECNATOM and Ringo Válvulas
the economic joint venture Spanish Nuclear Group for
China (AIE SNGC).
2009:
Economic joint venture Spanish Nuclear Group for China
(AIE SNGC) signed a technology cooperation agreement
with Chinese corporation CNNC to supply products and
services to Chinese Nuclear Power Plants.

Agreements with the licensers and technological partners
have been extended
On the 25th anniversary of the fuel element factory,
Enusa has achieved maximum annual historic output.
Uranium Supply
1974: ENUSA, together with enterprises from France, Italy, Belgium, creates EURODIF to build the uranium enrichment plant in Tricastín (France). A long-term supply contract is signed. In addition, a long-term conversion and enrichment services contract is signed with the Russian firm Tenex.
1975: Enusa signs the first enriched uranium supply contracts with the owner electric utilities of nuclear reactors. Enusa takes part, together with the French company Cogema, the Japanese company OURD and the State of Niger, in the constitution of the uranium concentrate production mining company (COMINAK) in the Republic of Niger.
1979: Py legal mandate, Enusa sets up and manages the Basic Uranium Stock, which represents Spain's energy guarantee.
1984: Enusa signs an enrichment services supply contract with the U.S. Department of Energy for the Spanish reactors.
1995: Special purchases of concentrates are made to take advantage of the low prices and the slowdown of mining production in Ciudad Rodrigo.
1998: After liberalization of raw material purchases, the electric utilities and Enusa agree on a new framework of contractual relations based on a strictly commercial agreement without public intervention. Creation of the Uranium Supply Commission by the electric utilities and Enusa. This commission approves the contracts and controls the management entrusted to Enusa.
1999:
Liquidation of the basic stock (Spanish strategic stock) is decreed; Enusa takes charge as executor and completes the process in 2000.
2000: Enusa sets up and manages a new Reserve Stock on behalf of the electric utilities. In 2005, this stock is enlarged by 65%.
2001:
The Ciudad Rodrigo mine ceases to be a leading supplier of uranium concentrates due to discontinuation of its activities.
2006:
After 13 years, the lawsuit with the U.S. Department of Energy regarding the surcharges included in the UTS prices is settled by extrajudicial agreement.
Enviroment
1990: Cessation of production
in La Haba and beginning of reclamation activities.
1997: Completion
of La Haba reclamation. Creation of the Environmental
Project Management.
1998: The post-decommissioning institutional
monitoring program is launched in La Haba.
2001: On
December 31, the productive activities in the Ciudad
Rodrigo Mining Center come to an end. Beginning of the
decommissioning and reclamation work of the Enusa Environmental
Center in Saelices-Ciudad Rodrigo.
2003:
A unit is created to develop new energy applications
for urban solid waste treatment. Acquisition of EMGRISA,
a company that works in the management of industrial
wastes and treatment of contaminated soils.
2005:
Activities are undertaken to develop new applications
in relation to renewable energies.
2006: Assignment of the Ministry
of Environment whereby EMGRISA is commissioned to characterize
contaminated soils on state-owned land.
2009: Enusa request the environmental
authorization for the installation of a biogas production
plant in Juzbado.
2010: The Technical Environment Office
has started building the first stock farming waste biogas
plant at Juzbado (Salamanca).
