United Nations Global Compact

In 1999, in the World Economic Summit in Davos, Kofi Annan presented this initiative for encouraging businesses from all countries to assume an ethical commitment to embrace ten principles of conduct and action in the areas of Human Rights, Labor, Environment and Anti-Corruption as an integral part of their strategy and operations.

In 2002, the Spanish Network of the United Nations Global Compact (ASEPAM) was created with Enusa as a founding partner, and today it is one of the most active networks in the world.

As part of this ethical commitment, businesses should annually submit a Progress Report that reflects the degree of fulfillment and implementation of the ten principles. In 2008, Enusa submitted its third Report, which can be consulted on the Website of the Global Compact.

Also in 2008, our organization launched two important initiatives as part of its commitment to the ten principles advocated by the Compact. On one hand, Enusa included in its vendor qualification assessment system the consideration of these vendors’ level of adherence to the ten principles and their commitment to Social Responsibility.

On the other hand, an informative brochure on the Global Compact was published and distributed among our employees, explaining: what it is, what goals it pursues, how it works, and what it means for our organization to be a member of it. This brochure will gradually be distributed among other stakeholders of ours.
