Nuclear business

Environmental business

In ENUSA our premise is that “Safety is first”. We are aware of what is involved in running a nuclear company and, therefore, safety is an integral part of all our activities, from the perspective of both nuclear and occupational safety.

Nuclear Safety:

Our goals are focused on preventing accidents with radiological consequences and mitigating them if they do occur. Our workers are responsible in their work and more than comply with all legal requirements.

Radiological Protection:

The constant concern in our company has always been the protection of people and the environment.

The basic purpose of radiological protection is to protect the environment and the safety of the people who may be exposed to ionizing radiation (in this case due to the activities of our fuel assembly factory), considering both the current impact and the long-term effects.

The factory has Safety and Radiological Protection Services in charge of managing both nuclear and conventional safety and the radiological protection of people, equipment, components and systems in the facility, as well as the environment. The factory adapts to the recommendations of the regulatory bodies at all times.

The company has always posted excellent statistical results in this area. The radiation doses received by the workers are lower than 10% of the limits established by current legislation, and to date no case of occupational disease of a radioactive origin has been recorded.

Safety Culture and Human Factors:

All of ENUSA’s workers should behave in accordance with a solid, suitable “Safety Culture”, Safety Culture being understood as: “our way of thinking and acting based on our experience in relation to assurance of the facility’s safety, which we convey to each other and which evolves over time”.

The fundamental purpose of the Organization and Human Factors Program is to identify, control and correct organizational and human factors before they can negatively affect safety.

Through various projects and activities, each of the areas into which the program is divided (which are listed below) pursues its own objectives, and a fundamental cornerstone of this program is the management of the Safety Culture:

  • Efficiency of the organization
  • Safety Culture
  • Human performance
  • Self-assessment and knowledge management
  • Control of the factory configuration
  • Work management
