The public company has signed with Endesa, Iberdrola and Naturgy the extension of the contract that guarantees the supply of fuel for the 5 reactors of these three Spanish nuclear power plants

ENUSA has just signed the agreement by which the public company will be the supplier of fuel, engineering services and plant services for the five reactors of the Almaraz, Ascó and Vandellós II nuclear power plants.

The contract includes twelve nuclear fuel refills that will be divided into three for the Almaraz nuclear power plant, four for the Ascó plant and five for the Valdellós 2 plant. This new agreement means that ENUSA will cover the needs of these nuclear plants and provide operators the necessary flexibility to efficiently manage the transition scenario provided for in the draft of the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan designed by the Government of Spain.

In October 2018, ENUSA signed the largest fuel supply and services contract in its history with the three energy companies. This new extension represents confirmation of the commitment acquired with Endesa, Iberdrola and Naturgy by which ENUSA undertakes to supply the nuclear fuel for all the aforementioned recharges, the design of the core and the licensing of the corresponding operating cycles for those recharge regions. , as well as other engineering services associated with fuel, including tools for monitoring the operation.

The extension of the contract also includes the management of irradiated fuel during recharging stops at the plants, in addition to its transfer and subsequent management.

For the execution of this contract, ENUSA has a License agreement with Westinghouse, in force since 1974, to provide fuel to these five reactors. This alliance with the world's leading PWR fuel technologist guarantees access to the latest advances in nuclear fuel and, added to the quality standards of ENUSA, ensures that Spanish reactors will always have the most advanced fuel, guaranteeing their operation. safely, reliably and efficiently.
