A delegation from the ENUSA Group, Advanced Industries, led by its president, José Vct. Berlanga made an institutional visit on March 22 and 23, to the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Organization (IAEA), a related body of the United Nations system. Located in Vienna and created in 1957, it is the main entity in charge of accelerating and increasing the contribution of nuclear energy for the purposes of peace, health and prosperity throughout the world.

The Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, held a meeting with representatives of the Spanish public company in which he showed his interest in the activities and projects it develops, especially for its transversal approach and experience in the nuclear industry. In this sense, José Vte. Berlanga explained to the DG the company's links in relation to nuclear medicine, logistics and the transport of isotopes used in this specialty of medicine, as well as the dismantling of nuclear facilities and waste management.

At this meeting, ENUSA's firm commitment to collaborating and sharing with international organizations such as the IAEA, the knowledge and experience acquired after 50 years in the nuclear sector was revealed, and it offered its advice and active participation in support programs for countries. on process of development.

Work commissions

During the visit, several technical work meetings were also held with the different departments of the international organization. Specific topics were addressed such as environmental restoration and uranium mines, a field where ENUSA has extensive experience, as shown by the management of the Saélices el Chico mine in Salamanca.

These meetings have served to identify the different areas of action in which the Spanish public company can contribute the knowledge of its experts and all their experiences in upcoming agreements with the UN nuclear agency.
